Meet English Heritage’s new CEO - eight-year-old Thea

CLIMBING THE corporate ladder can be a daunting task - but not for eight-year-old Thea Hunt, who has been appointed as the CEO of English Heritage,

After a nationwide search involving hundreds of applicants, Thea has been appointed as Child Executive Officer, and will provide English Heritage with a child’s view of its castles, forts and palaces across England.

She has a tough mandate - ensuring the wishes of thousands of children come true.

After speaking to 1,066 children English Heritage came up with the top 25 history-inspired wishes, with discovering hidden treasure, sitting on a throne and firing a cannon the top three.

Thea, from Wordsley in the West Midlands, will help bring them to life at sites across the country, while also consulting on events programmes, with the support of a Round Table of seven other youngsters.

Emily Sewell, head of events at English Heritage, said: “Thea really stood out with her passion, energy and generosity – we’re extremely excited to have her on board.”

English Heritage are the custodians of 33 properties in Yorkshire, including Whitby Abbey, Clifford’s Tower and Fountains Abbey.
