Fire crews were called to help paramedics deal with a cyclist whose leg had become impaled on a bicycle’s handlebars at West Grange Drive in the Hunslet area of Leeds this morning.

Firefighters had to cut the handlebars from the bike before the man could be taken to hospital, with the handlebars still impaled in his leg.

A West Yorkshire Fire Service crew from Hunslet attended the incident and asked for help from the technical rescue unit from Cleckheaton.
