The region's fire-fighters were kept busy last night as they dealt with five car fires in the same night shift.

The first call out was to The Crescents,in the Dunscroft area of Doncaster at around 7.35pm where a Volkswagen Passat was well alight. It is believed to have caught fire accidentally.

At 11:55pm the same crew from Thorne blue watch were called out to Sour Lane, Fishlake in Doncaster where they found a vehicle so burnt out they were unable to determine the make and model and believe it was set on fire deliberately.

Fire-fighters from Parkway station in Sheffield took the first of three car fire calls at 12:41am today. There were reports of a car on fire on Vikinglead Road in the city. When they got there the car was completely burnt out and thought to be arson.

At 02:18am they were called to reports of a Citroen Xsara on fire. On arrival at Kingston Street, Sheffield, they found the vehicle had caught fire accidentally and were able to quickly put it out.

Finally, at 02:21am they attended an incident on Mansfield Road and on arrival found a vehicle had been set alight deliberately, but was so badly damaged they were unable to get vehicle details.
