The Yorkshire Clinic is first in the north to offer this pioneering prostate treatment

The Yorkshire Clinic is the first hospital in the North to offer new pioneering robotic prostate treatment.

The Yorkshire Clinic, part of Ramsay Health Care, says it is delighted to announce that men suffering from a benign enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) will now be able to receive robotic Aquablation therapy right here in Yorkshire.

It is estimated that 3 million men in the UK have lower urinary tract symptoms associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and around 35,000 men in the UK will require surgical intervention for this condition. Historically, the procedures available for the treatment of this condition, whilst providing effective symptom relief, may have recognised complications such as incontinence, erectile or ejaculatory dysfunction.

Aquablation therapy is an advanced, minimally invasive treatment for BPH that uses imaging, robotics, and a heat-free waterjet to provide long-lasting relief with low rates of complications. Clinical studies have shown that Aquablation Therapy offers significant symptom relief and low complication rates, regardless of prostate size or shape.

Hospital Director at The Yorkshire Clinic, Deana Squire said:  “We are thrilled to announce the introduction of Aquablation Therapy at The Yorkshire Clinic to our complement of services. As the first Hospital in the North to offer this pioneering treatment it demonstrates our commitment to providing our patients with the most advanced and effective treatment options available."

Uniquely the hospital has 7 surgeons from across Yorkshire who are working collaboratively to launch this new service and they are:         Mr Omer Baldo,      Mr Jyoti Basu, Mr James Forster, Mr Patrick Gordon, Mr Sanjay Rajpal, Mr Raj Singh and Mr Alistair Stewart

“Aquablation therapy is a game changer for patients with enlarged prostates.”

Consultant Urologist Mr Omer Baldo

Mr Baldo continued: “The utilisation of heat-free water power results in improved urinary symptoms and whilst we cannot eliminate all complications, the risk of urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction is significantly reduced.

“I am proud that we can now offer this state-of-the-art robotic treatment to our patients in West Yorkshire and from further afield” says Mr Alistair Stewart Consultant Urologist.
